Default 2000 5.9l Magnum heads

I just got a long block to do a rebuild for my truck.

When I took the heads off I found all sorts of carbon and junk because it had been ran without a t stat for a while.

What just hit me is that these heads are not heart shaped.

I had ready and seen many places that all magnum heads were heart shaped and closed cambers. Were there any years that this was not the case?

The heads are at the machine shop now, but I am going to go pick them up so I can get the casting numbers off them to look into it more.

I think I am leaning towards some EQ Monster Magnum heads, but just got curious about these.

Thanks

Open Chamber smog heads. Yep. Pretty standard. Most of the 'factory replacement' heads are the same way. can get a nice bump in compression ratio by going to closed chamber heads.
