The bottom one can be a pain, without the proper tool. Which I don't have. Channel Locks for this dude.

Still better than having to mess with the stupid bypass hose.

During testing...if it turns yellow, you are leaking combustion gasses into coolant system.

i've still got the stock clamps. they're a pita to squeeze and slide back, but they don't leak.

I got an all aluminum replacement from CSF-2969 for the superduper ebay price of $150. here's a pic.

That's NICE. I paid 146 for the stock replacement with plastic side tanks. Wish I had know about this one then... but, as mine was PUKING coolant.... I couldn't wait.

Manufactures definitely use the cheapest things they can that still meet the specs they are trying to meet. They are in the business solely for profit, why would they not use the cheapest?

The quality and price of parts has a lot to do with their projected selling price and how long they are actually designing the stuff to last. Everything is taken into account and some things they skimp and others they don't. Its all about the end goal and the end goal is making money.
They CAN be a pain.... (I think that was part of the design goal personally.) But, the right tool makes them a breeze.

sorry it took me a while to get back to you guys. I got a block test kit and tested for combustion gasses in the coolant, and it tested negative. I ran the test 3 times. I also put it by my exhaust to make sure the test fluid was working properly and it turned greenish when sucking in exhaust fumes. I pulled the top hose off the nozzle to make sure the nozzle wasnt cracked and it wasnt, but it had little bubbles in the plastic..like paint bubbles. It looked like what would happen if it got melted but I know the coolant didnt get that hot to melt the plastic. This could make for an eneven mating surface of the hose and nozale causing coolant to seep by, even though I have 3 freakin hose clamps on it.
