I have a 2000 Dodge Ram 1500 Laramie SLT with the 5.9l and the seatbelt barely fits. I have a struggle putting this thing on. I am a big guy but am losing weight so sooner or later it wont matter.

In the meantime can anyone recommend a seatbelt extender that will work with this make and model truck? Maybe one I can get locally here in Orlando, FL or online?

Go to the dodge dealer and ask for one. GM hands them out for free on request.

 

I see them occasionally on ebay.

 

Why would you want to pay for them, when the dealer hands them out for free?

 

glad i live in a state where there is no such thing as click it or ticket... 18 or older, and you can ride/ drive in a vehicle without a seatbelt.

dealers do hand them out, least they should.

 

Why are you glad about that? A friend of mine is paralyzed from a freak accident where his truck became air born. The impact of the truck landing and him coming down from floating around the cab while the truck was in the air snapped his spine. Had he been wearing his seat belt, he'd have been okay.

 

i absolutely hate wearing seatbelts. they are way to uncomfortable.

i get the whole buckle up it saves lives deal... but i still wont wear it. ive also had friends die in crashes. one was thrown from his lifted jeep, and it rolled on him, and snapped his neck killing him instantly. the other one was doing 100+ down a very very curvy road, and his car went airborn into a huge pine tree, and was killed instantly.

so as you can see, im well aware of the dangers, but i just dont care enough to deal with the discomfort while driving.

 

I guess I've just been wearing one for so long that I feel naked driving without it. Especially when wheeling. LOL, actually just this past weekend I took a friend off road for the first time in his life, and he wasn't wearing his seatbelt... his head hit the ceiling so many times! It was great! He was like "How can your truck handle this?!

 

I always wear mine. I have had too many friends die in accidents, and have seen too many people killed simply because they weren't wearing one. Alcohol doesn't even have to be a factor.

In one instance, a good friend was killed. He wasn't wearing his seat belt. Everyone else, in both cars, were wearing theirs. They walked away with a few bruises.

 

It's become habit to buckle up every time regardless of where I am, even on 270 acre of private property.
My future father in law one day decided he wanted modern retractable seatbelts is his 71 chevelle. We ordered a universal set and agreed some creative cutting and welding made them look OEM and super safe.
