Default Considering buying a manual shift 1994 2500, advice please?

Hi guys,
I'm new to this forum and new to trucks, but I spotted a manual shift 2500 and am considering it because I like manual shift and think a truck with it could be cool and I know they are more unusual cause I haven't seen one.

Anyway my real question is with the 5th gear nut issue I read about. Seems to be the only problem with these stick transmissions. My questions:
- Does this only happen to NV4500 or also NV3500? Not sure if the truck for sale is a half ton or 3/4 yet so don't know which it has.
- Any way to hear or feel the start of a problem?

Thanks guys! This truck looks promising since its been cared for pretty well, is badass and unusual, and cheap! Everything needed to convince me to get a truck, just so long as the trans doesn't have a problem!

NV4500 has the issue as well. I think the 3500 has other issues... not so much the fifth gear nut. There are a number of fixes out on the market for the 4500.

Fix that nut issue and the NV4500 lasts forever

Well I bought it and its got a nv3500 so no nut probs for me! I like the truck, for $850 it's mechanically awesome and the frames totally solid, just rusty fenders and rockers.

This is my first truck after driving a few Volvo cars. Very different driving style LOL but I think I'll get used to it and enjoy it for off road and around town hooligan fun!
