Default bumper swap?

has anybody ever swapped a slt bumper to a sport bumper on 99+ rams?

i believe you will need new brackets and grill. mine has a curved grill (sig pic), then again i dont know for positive if pre 98 sports have curved grill or not.

Pre-99 Sports are the same as the SLT models, just the bumper itself is prepped for paint.

Well, if you get a new one, that is.

mines a 2000 99 an up there diffrent and all bracket wise thts why iim asking

Where the brackets mount to the frame will be the same though. If you have the sport bumper, WITH brackets, should be a direct bolt on. Not sure of differences in grilles between sport/non-sport though. (or even if there ARE any differences, aside from color...)

Mounting brackets will be the same, however the structure is different as you are talking about a plastic bumper with a steel sub-structure vs. a steel bumper, period. As for grilles, the 99+ are a kind of curved shape at the bottom to fill in the gap in the new bumper. If you left your chrome grille, it would work just fine, but you'd had a 1-2 in gap between the new bumper and the OEM grille.

Aren't the headlights a different shape on the third-gens as well??
