I ordered an Electric Fan through Jegs, should recieve it in a few weeks.

I have heard this Mod boasts decent MPG gains, cant hurt with my current 10- 12mpg

Is there anything of note to watch out for, or be carful of when removing the stock fan/clutch? I plan to change my water pump also while I'm in there, or at least inspect it.

I run on in the place of the clutch fan on my 1984 Caprice. I noticed a slight increase in acceleration at WOT. That's about it. No MPG gains.

i got better gas mileage with my mechanical fan install than i have so far with electric fan installed. which ones did you buy from jegs? you most likely payed too much since you didn't search here. there is some great electric fan info on here if you search for it.

Dont have the exact model with me but it was $111 shipped to Canada.

Really? That doesent make sence, removing the stock fan takes load off the engine, thus one would assume better fuel economy.

at $111 shipped to Canada i might be a bit worried about if they are big enough or pull enough air to keep your truck cool

i have not been able to match some of the gas mileage numbers i got with the mechanical fan installed. the only good thing is i only paid $30 for the fans at the local junk yard so it is not such a loss.

I did not notice any gain that I could identify with e-fan as I installed HS rockers and other things at the same time. But I am really happy that the engine temp does not rise when in stop and go traffic. Fan keeps it cool, in fact at the beginning, too cool. I had to experiment with the three programmed setting available on the controller.
