Default Need a rebuilt tranny, but what else??

So, I have known for a while that my tranny is going out, but it has taken a turn for the worse in the past few days. Evidently it is the TC going out and that is causing my tranny to fail. I talked to a tranny shop and they said when the TC fails it basically clogs up everything. Meaning I would also have to replace my radiator and external tranny cooler. Has anyone else heard of this?? Is it legit or are they just trying to sell me more stuff??

Most places will back flush the coolers and lines....... That is generally adequate to the task. Putting an external filter on it sure wouldn't hurt either.

Make sure you flush the cooler lines/coolers REALLY well..

The cooler and lins do need to be cleaned out, but not necessarily replaced. THis will work, but may take more than one can. Can be picked up at ORiley's.

Ok, thanks for your help. One more question. Do you guys put any stock in the warranties? I'm either looking to get my tranny rebuilt at a local transmission shop with a one year warranty or my mechanic will replace it with a rebuild from certified transmission from Omaha with a 3 year warranty for about the same price.

Keep all your paperwork in good shape and in it's entirety and you should be good.

take a look at what goes in to those rebuilds. Sure, the mail-order one has a longer warranty, but, if you ask your mechanic nicely, he can do some upgrades as well, and it won't increase the cost much, and you will have a better trans than the 3 year warranty feller.
