Dash has normal cracks but I just figured it'd be hard to find a dash with out cracks so I just assumed to epoxy the cracks then through a dash cover over it. I really don't want to spend more than 2000 on the rebuild. I don't need a lot of torque cuz I'm not going to be doing heavy hauling or pulling maybe a flat bed with a jeep on it to the ohv or something once in a blue moon but that's about as far as it would go.

+1. That is a sound approach, but putting a used timing set and water pump on is not. That will only add about $100 or so to the job. So at least consider doing that! Oops... New oil pump. Does the long block include that?

If he is lucky that's all it would need, chances are it will need more work and parts. A good long block should also have a warranty.

The one I can get at advance is a bare long block comes with timing needs a water pump and an oil pump then put the stuff off my block on the new long block. The only new parts I would need are those 2. Comes with a 2 year warranty but its a spartan engine and I haven't heard good things about them
