Default Over-tightened bolts

I started tightening the intake manifold bolts to 144 lbs-ft instead of 12 lbs-ft. I backed them out quickly and did them all at 12 lbs-ft. Is i possible i crushed the gasket? It was only for 5 minutes until I realized. Truck idles smooth with no roughness or anything. Can't take it for a drive because my throttle valve cable broke.

Check your vacuum pressure, and keep an eye on your coolant level.

And watch your oil for evidence of coolant intrusion.....

I think you're ok, but I'd get another set of bolts as they are not expensive.

You definitely over did the gaskets b/t the IM and the block!

Let me ask you this...how many of the bolts did you do this to?

Make sure the end seals didn't get squeezed out as well..... (makes for a nasty oil leak.)

monitor for coolant loss, white smoke from exhaust, water in oil, or oil leaks/oil loss.

if none of that you are fine. leave it be.

There's no way the intake bolts could take 144 ft/lbs without shearing, so what did you really torque them to?

I agree. The bolts would have sheared and depending on which bolt you would have cracked the intake too.
