Default cab off yr model switch

I have a 97 4x4 with a 360. Also a 98 5.2 2wd. I like the style of the 98 and want a 4x4. Id like to do a cab and motor switch. ( 5.2 runs great). My only questions are. 1. Will the pcm need to be flashed 2. Will the 5.2 tranny work with a transfer case. This is a budget build obviously. I have a newborn and my truck is going to crap.

i don't know.
the 94-95 is an OBD-I, and then 96+ is OBD-II. but - 96-97 was one sub-model, and then 98-99 was another, and then 00-01 was another.

my guess would be to try and keep the cab, dash, computer, wiring harness, intake sensors from the 98, and move all that to the 4wd.

but - check your 97 vs 98 transmission wiring (you may have to replace some wiring or sensor connections inside trans). check speedo and speed sensor (cable vs electronic). check rear diff speed sensor.
