Default reverse light problems...

Anybody ever have trouble with their reverse lights popping fuses? I have replaced the bulbs checked for loose or bare wires.. Every time i put new fuse in i get about 4 uses of the lights and then the fusr blows.. anyone got any ideas???

Has to be a short somewhere. If it works sometimes before blowing, Id be looking around the steering column.

do you have the 7 pin trailer harness with the backup light wired to one pin. if so, see if you can unplug that harness and see if it fixes the problem.

Where is the fuse you speak of. I can't find mine and I think I blew it while wiring up my trailer plug.

What year is your truck? We have a selection of service manuals available in the faq section.

In the fuse box on the drivers side of the dash, at least it was on my 97. It would help to know what vehicle you are referring to.

1998.5 diesel 4x4
I was installing a new 7 wire plug. I found the purple wire (I think it was purple but test as reverse) above the spare tire in the harness. I spliced into the wire with a soldered connection. When done soldering I could not get test light or brake light.

Mine flicker and my buddys 98 don't work at all. Seems common

I scratched the fuse terminals up a bit and it seems to be working
