Default Stalling/start issue

To start off I have a 1997 1500 4x4. For the past two years I have had this stalling issue. When letting off the accelerator at low speeds (35 below) the truck will sometimes stall. Also, sometimes when I crank the truck it turns over but won't crank and I have to rev it to get it to start. Then keep it revved for a little bit for it to idle correctly. It only has this problem during cold or damp weather. It has never done it to me in warmer weather. I have replaced the TPS and also I just cleaned the IAC valve about 2 weeks ago. The problem seemed to go away for about 3 days then started again. I am leaning towards maybe a vaccum leak now? I really don't know at this point though and I need some help. It's weird, someday it can run just fine and some days it stalls a lot. Any input is appreciated.

How's your plenum?

Did you reset the PCM after doing TPS, and cleaning?

Disconnect the battery for a bit.

Cleaning the IAC does not always work. It could simply be bad. And disconnect the negative battery cable first before replacing or cleaning any electrical sensors or parts.

I might just buy the new IAC. Or should I try resetting the PCM first? I'll check the distributor and plug wires too.

I had both issues you describe after letting truck sit for a few months. They sort of happened sometimes and the truck would snap out of it, then come back, and then just all the time.

replace the throttle position sensor and IAC fixed both issues. Although, at first I thought it hadn't worked because the issue persisted, but I had NOT reset the PCM. After changing the IAC/TPS unhook negative battery cable and turn on headlights for 15 seconds and hook battery back (well you should unhook it when touching any electrical). Then start and keep foot on gas to prevent stall out during idle for about 5 minutes to let computer adjust, then turn it off. When started again it idled perfectly and never shuts off at speed.

I did try cleaning the original IAC really good and it did NOT work. I replaced it with a new (~$40) and it never happened again. And hey you could just take the new one back . If a new one doesn't work maybe clean the whole throttle body.
