I wonder if you could put 440 heads on a 400....I mean, the bore on the 400 is actually larger.

Yeah it was an old Carter ABF. I never tried any parts swapping with my few big block projects. I found a 400 from something, stock rebuild, painted it up nice, swapped the guts of the transmissions so I could run the Scout II transfer case and axles, and put the axles under the springs for a quick and easy lift. 35" tires, cut a full roof down for an open half cab that was removable, roll cage, stereo, Probe seats, and that was it. Basic. I did end up selling it though because I just never used it. Couldn't find time to crawl or mud.

You guys are all getting us terribly off topic. I think to answer the original posters question... Yes, texas women are nasty.

Probably time to close this thread, it's been rather useless.

I personally think that Merc225hp has provided the only good response to the OP's question. Okay Redneck too. OP didn't ask for anyone's opinion on whether he should hop up his truck, or for pictures of southern women.

Heavyduty1983, Merc knows how to build these engines from experience. Listen to that guy.

As a personal opinion to this topic, I was looking to repower my '02 Dakota so it would be "faster". I looked into Indy Cylinder Head's 360s and was very impressed with the power to cost ratio... about $5000 for 380 HP 415 ft.lbs. Indy has 408 strokers for a relatively low cost as well... about $6500 for 450 HP and 480 ft.lbs. These are all new manufacture blocks and parts.
If you decide to run your current engine, at least have the cylinder bores checked for "trueness" before determining what performance parts to run, since you could end up waisting money on a faulty block.

Back to topic, i would only do the top end assuming the bottom is good.

Dodge EQ Monster/ RT heads $1100.
Hughes F1 Intake manifold $550.
Cold air intake $35-80 Homemade
Shorty headers $150-275(long ones)
Regrind Cam $150-200
(carb or ECU) $350 +

That's just my experience & opinion, and you should be able to smoke his Hemi Chiped.
