I don't have the build sheet, bought used, I guess I'll have to go to the dealer and get them to decode my vin, or show them the build plate, I believe thats under the rear seat?
Hmm I'm thinking about getting 285s, but I would really want to change the gears to 4:10 but the front end would require a 4 carrier front Dana 44 axle and I only have a 3 axle with the 3:55 gears. Plus maybe too much stress for my tiny little 318, and the crappy transmission.

zman provided the link for the build sheet, you need the last 8 digits of your VIN number. And you usually have the info in a day or two OR you can go to the dealer and give them your VIN number and get a build sheet.

Edit:

This is what a build sheet looks like (I omitted my VIN #)

I bought my truck about a year ago it had power doorlocks but I did not get a fob so i got the build sheet and it did not come with keyless entry. I bought a alarm system that had power door lock control and installed it. I did not bother with the alarm part just the keyless entry, interior light, and parking lights flash. I made all the connections for the locks under the kick pannel on the passenger side. I had to cut and splice wires but it works great.

Wow, that's awesome, if you wouldn't mind telling me what you bought, and maybe a quick paraphrase of what you did would be much appreciated, thank you.

I spent 30-45 minute typing what I did and when I tried to replay it said I had to log in again and I lost all that i typed. I will try again another time. but the alarm was a cheep probably crappy alarm but I wanted it for the remote door locks only. It was a SCYTEK SP-400 about $35 online.

I will give this another try. I will probably put it in two posts to make sure I don't time out again.
1. Download the 2nd gen service manual from this forum if you have not done so, so you can see what I am doing on the schematic diagrams.
2. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
3. Remove the passanger side kick panel and locate connecter C346. On my truck it was the bottom of the two connectors behind the kick panel.
4. The OR/VT wire at pin 6 is the lock wire and the PK/VT wire at pin 7 is the unlock wire.
5. Cut the OR/VT wire comming from the cab harness before it goes into C346. leave enough wire at C346 to connect to.
6. Connect the WHITE wire from the alarm 5 pin door lock connector to the OR/VT wired going to the harness in the cab.
7. Connect the GREEN wire from the alarm 5 pin door lock connector to the OR/VT wire going to C346.
8. Cut the PK/VT wire comming from the cab harness to C346 leave enouth wire at C346 to connect to.
9. Connect the BROWN wire from the alarm 5 pin door lock connector to the PK/VT wire going to the cab harness.
10. Connect the BLUE wire from the alarm 5 pin connector to the PK/VT wire going to C346 connector.
11. Splic the VIOLET wire from the 5 pin door lock connector to the RED wire PIN1 of C346. The red wire remains connected at C346 just splice to it.
12. Dome licht control. At the kick pannel locate the two wires goin to the door switch that turn the dome light on and off. I think they were just two wires togather but I don't remenber. Splice the two BLACK/WHITE wires from the large connector on the alarm to the two door switch wires.
13. The WHITE wire from the alarm large connector is power to flash the parking lights and needs to be connected to a parking light wire. I connected near the battery but you can connect to any parking light wire.
14. Connect the black wire from alarm large connector to a good ground. Clean the metal and the screw to make sure you get a good ground.
15. Connect the red wire from the alarm large connector to battery (+12 V all the time). I connected at the battery positive terminal but you can connect at the fuse box if you like. I will put the rest in next post

Part 2
The rest of the alarm wires, siren, starter interupt and shock sensor do not need to be hooked up if you are not using the alarm. If you want an alarm buy a better unit this one I used only for the remote door locks, dome light and parking ligh flash. I chose this unit because it had all the relays built in so you had nothing else to buy or figure out where to mount. I bundled all the unused wires with the alarm unit. I taped the end of each unused wire so it could not get in trouble. I mounted the alarm behind the glove box on a plastic support strip on the side facing the front of the truck.
I hope this is of some value to you. I'm sure there are a lot of alarms that will work for the remote door lock control. I did a search on the internet and this one is still availiable for $25 + shipping.

Have a nice day.
