Default Spark arching to dust boot

Hey everyone,

Sorry I haven't gotten back since last time, school has kept me pretty busy.

So the truck is running fine except in idle and in overdrive if I am not going over 55. It seems to still be missing. Just got on spring break so I have some time to work on it. Today when I took a look I herd a popping noise, so I looked around and sure enough every couple rotations of sparks I saw the spark arch from the plug wire to the dust boot on cylinder #3. I have a good feeling this is why it still feels like it is missing.

Any thoughts/ideas about what to do about this?

Thanks!

Patrick

Put new plugs and new wires on. Be sure to blow out the shield before removing the plugs though. Might as well go ahead and do the cap and rotor also, go with a brass terminal cap.

Bad plug possibly? I wouldn't mind running to advanced to get a new one

Then replace that one wire thats arching. Or you could do it the cheap way and pull the wire off the plug and wrap the **** out of it with electrical tape. No guarentee how long itll last though.

Either way the spark will go the path of least resistance, in this case to the shield. Its a bad wire.

Somehow that boot got damaged, the only way spark will escape like that is if there's a cut or break in the insulation.

Good luck, and thank you! I parked it on a parking lot snow bank last weekend while at work, and I got quite a few looks!
