Get up to date on batteries. Keep in mind YOUR application. Recent article here:

Optimas have tanked in the last few years. Plenty of threads about how often ppl replace them -- 12-14 months in some cases. Take that in context still too. If there is a higher volume of Optima out there, then of course the rate of defects increases with it.

Sears Die Hard is a great one now on capability, price, warranty, and availability.

The battery debate could go on forever. My father had a 1989 GMC Sierra. The factory AC Delco battery lasted until 1998... 9 years! He replaced it with another Delco, I bought the truck from him in 2006. In 2008 I replaced that one... 10 years! He Still has the original AC Delco in his '06 Silverado... almost 7 years old. BUT!... Working in a parts store, I've replaced bad Delco's as young as 3 years old. The Optima in my truck in 4 years old, going strong. The same one in my Caprice... toast after 2 years! The same one in my buddy's bronco, 8 years old, still kicking. Hit and miss. To say one is the best in the world because of one good experience you've had isn't an accurate judgement.
