Default intake question

Just bought a new play toy. 96 reg cab short bed 4x4 5.9. Anyways i have been thinking of doing the edelbrock intake setup from Hughes and an SCT. Truck already has a good flowing exhaust. Anybody got some insight on this kit?

http://www.hughesengines.com/Index/p...=&partid=24773

Also planning on getting a set of shorty headers too.

Anybody think this is a worthwhile way to blow about $1300?

Could get a Mopar M1 instead. They seem a squeak cheaper.

Mopar M1.
Tuner is a must if you want to really take advantage of it.
Might lose a little low end but might pick it back up with tuner and shorties

I dont see an M1 being a better choice. Yes most people use it but after adding up everything to install it i dont see the point. Also probably going to get a big mouth throttle body too. Man this boy should scream after this, and thats on 33/35" tires. lol

I would forget the 5"lift and go for the motor parts if you have to make a choice.

you will have a better power band with the m1, and shorties will help too. you can get a 52mm throttle body for like 125 bucks from a member on here. 1999blkdakrt is his name.

i could sit here and type numerous paragraphs, attempting to spend your money for you. but im not going to. if youre that interested in seeing what parts i could tell you about, find my 360 build thread in the general discussion section.

i should be putting close to 400 ponies to the crank by just building the top end.

I am currently running this and have been for the last year or so, and I absolutely love it. Lost a little low end but the SCT made up the difference. That combined with my exhaust, intake, and 1.7 RR made my truck a blast to drive.
