Default 1999 ram wont go in overdrive.

Transmission was rebuilt on my 99 ram 1500 and now it wont shift into fourth. (Overdrive) doesnt matter how fast i go. Doesng matter if i let off the gas or tap the brakes. Truck goes 1 - 2 - 3 - torque conv lockup.

Are you getting any codes?

I would venture to guess that it's either an electrical problem or mechanical problem.

You could drop the pan and see if anything is floating around; OD snap ring, etc...

I googled around a bit but didn't really find anything definitive.

How's the fluid level? Check with truck at normal operating temp and transmission in N.

Fluid level is perfect. Clean fluid too. All gears shift perfect except its almost like theres no overdrive. Doesnt even try to go to overdrive. Could it be the lockup solenoid?

A possibility.

You'd have to drop the pan to change it, probably wouldn't hurt to drop it and see if anything is floating around.

Don't blame ya. I dropped my pan 3 times for a leak that turned out to be a leaky 8 pin connector (O rings vanished)

The TCC/OD Solenoid is about $146 at a dealer, should be able to find them cheaper online, eBay, etc...

ATF+4 isn't cheap, usually takes me 7qts to fill back up.

If you drop the pan and find parts of the OD Unit floating around that would hint at at least an OD Unit rebuild.

If you drop the pan and find nothing out of the ordinary you could check the TCC/OD Solenoid.

I'm sure others with more transmission experience will chime in shortly...

Well ill have to see but like i said though. The transmission was just rebuilt. Like 500 miles ago. So it shouldnt need an od rebuild. But ya never know. Could be a faulty part. I just hope its gna be a cheap and easy fix this truck is my livelyhood. Have to have it.

If it was rebuilt 500 miles ago, take it back to the shop and have them look it over....

They should at least diagnose it for free. Did it come with anykind of a warranty?

The OD Off Light on the dash isn't on is it?
