No bus reading on Gages 2001 Dodge Ram
I just bought a 2001 Dodge ram 4x4 and the Gages dont work. All the lights come on on the gage. It reads No Bus on the Odometer. When I took it by O'Reily their scan couldnt pick up a code from the computer. The dealership sent the truck off to a mechanic and they replaced the gages and computer but yet its still not working.
The fuse was fine. When I took it out and put it back in everything worked fine for about 10seconds than quit working again. Could there be a problem in the fuse box itself? Or does anyone have any idea what it could be?
Also since the gages dont work I cant tell how much fuel I have, anyone know a way to tell how much fuel you have without it or is it just pretty much blind untill I can get it fixed?

Another common source of this problem, there's a big PCM connector in the power distribution block by the brake booster, it's held down with one screw which is usually stripped out and loose, remove connector and spray with electronic cleaner(disconnect battery first), reconnect. Check grounds to pcm on firewall and front radiator support, remove paint, dab some dialectric grease on contacts and reattach, replace any loose corroded ground straps.

Don't be so quick on the PCM . Dodge is notorious on certain models right under the dash by the parking brake pedal. there was a place where the wires could contact a moving part and short out causing no bus... Can't find a link right off the bat. Check it out though, pull the knee bolster and check the wires...

i had 2 different no-bus conditions.
one was when i forgot to attach the ground wires at the power steering bracket.
the other times(s) have been the big white connector in the power distribution. theres a long bolt in the middle of the plug. disconnect battery and unbolt that plug. it'll sort of rise up and disconnect. as said, spray out with electronic cleaner, then plug/unplug several times to scratch the tarnish off. reconnect. it'll seem stripped when its all the way in to prevent overtightening.
