rough idle, now no start
I have a 2000 dodge ram 1500 5.9. i was changing the thermostat and throttle positioning sensor because my temp gauge wasnt rising and it was idling rough when i put the new ones in and everything hooked back up i started my truck and it ran for about 2 or 3 minutes and it died and now i cannot get it to start. the engine turns over but it wont fire. I have also replace the distributor cap and rotor and still nothing. can some one maybe give me some information on what to do. im stumped
First disconnect your battery and touch the end of the wires together to completely drain your system of electricity. This resets the PCM. Leave it unhooked for about 5 minutes
Next check your spark plug wiring. Find the the TSM(I think it's TSM) on here about proper wire routing
Did you spin the dizzy at all when you changed the cap and rotor?

First thing is do like Ham Bone suggested. Second thing is, in the future if you want to post a thread in the "tech" section, then please give it a related title. Others that may search for a related issue such as yours, are not going to search for "I need some info". Thanks and welcome to DF.
It's TSB not TSM "technical service bulletin" . Heres the link for that. http://dodgeram.info/tsb/1998/18-48-98/18-48-98-v8.htm
You also need to read the plenum sticky on top of the forum, download one of the manuals from the FAQ/DIY section( you can test the sensors using a multimeter and the manual). I'd also check fuel pressure with a gauge. I'll rename your thread also. "rough idle, now no start" if that's ok with you.

No problem, hope you get her figured out. Weekends are kind of slow around here, so be patient.

You need to check to see what you are missing - air, fuel and spark. Check for spark plug end. Also, make sure all the grounds are clean and tight, especially the one by the power steering pump (may have loosened to get to tstat?)
For S&Gs, check fuel pressure. If it is low, it will cause problems.
Also, TPS is not the usual suspect for poor idle. The IAC is the usual problem. Disconnect battery, remove TB, remove IAC and clean it and the bore in TB.
