Just wondering what your typical readings look like. My RPMs at idle are usually around 700, oil pressure around 7 psi, which from what I understand is the safe minimum.

Idle around 700ish. Here is a vid I did awhile ago showing oil pressure. Starts at idle and then a rev.

My Dodge idles around 750 RPM with oil pressure @ 20 psi, 40+ psi @ highway speed.
I did install a new oil pump when I did my plenum awhile back just for preventitve maintenance. 118,000 on the old pump and it was doing OK.

My idle is lower, around 500rpm, it has always been this way had the truck since it was new. 96 with the 5.9L no emissions from factory. Oil pressure is on the top side of 35at idle and 40-45 at highway speeds

7 PSI is the rock bottom minimum.... but, indicates that bearings are worn, and the engine is on its last legs. That said.... the sending units in these trucks suck. Checking with a mechanical gauge, to see what is REALLY happening, isn't a bad idea.

My gauge lies thru its teeth. It shows right about 40 PSI, even when the oil pressure light is on solid...... (hot idle in gear.)

I was seeing 2-5psi at hot idle, and 15-20psi wide open before I tried replacing bearings and ending up pulling the 5.9 out

+1 on this.

Mine is 35 psi @opt temp in gear @ idle rpm, @ 2000 rpm it's 65 psi. Idle rpm in gear is 650-700. Edit; That's using full synthetic 5-40 oil.

Mine is on the left when hot idle, and on the left when cold. 900 idle cold and 700 hot.

Hard to imagine my bearings arent gone at 210xxx miles but I still have great power, no oil burning(thats the rings and valves though) and no ticking or anything!

Regular oil changes for the win!!!
