So I finally got around to working on my truck today. I cut the cat out, hollowed it and put it back in. I haven't done the non fouler trick yet. I was going to wait and see how it runs before doing anything else. It was fairly warm today so I don't know if it will shudder or not but I do know that the truck seems like it has a whole lot more power now. Before it seemed okay but would not squeal the tires, even with it floored taking off on a turn. Now it left a black mark for about 70 feet before I let off the gas. I'm hoping that it has fixed the other problems as well. Thanks for everyones input and advise.

So 2 days last week were cold enough for it to shudder/jerk. It did 1 of the 2 days. It has been running fine up until yesterday. Now it does it in OD. It's a lot less noticeable than it was in 2nd. It also doesn't want to down shift once in OD unless it is mashed to the floor. Also, after driving on the highway for 10-15 minutes, it started having a dragging/grinding feeling. I don't know if it is all related or not but I appreciate everyones input. Thanks.

The precat o2 is surely bad and needs replace. Remove negative battery cable before doing so. And since it runs somewhat better with the cat gutted, that means it was obviously getting clogged. Have you read the plenum sticky?

Yeah the cat was rattling so I knew it was bad. I haven't replaced the o2 yet. I'll do that this weekend. Yeah I've read it and when I pulled the throttle body off to clean it the other day I looked down in there and it looked pretty clean. I will be doing the plenum once I get another motorcycle though just so it will be done. Would the plenum or front o2 keep me from down shifting once in overdrive though?

Wouldn't hurt to check TV cable adjustment. I know mine doesn't really like to come out of O/D either..... if the adjustment looks good, test the TPS.

I must say that after so long of battling this I finally have done the plenum repair and all is good. I was getting on the highway today and had to get out in front of a chevy truck (not really just wanted to) so I gave it some gas and was blown away at the throttle response and the power. The whole time I did not think it was the plenum (or just hoped it wasn't) until I was towing a boat back home (about 4 hours) and went through 7 qts of oil and no power pulling it at all. Started on the plenum, broke some bolts, and replaced/repaired some parts and now all is good. I just wanted to say thank you to everyone who pitched it and gave me some good advise.

(without reading back in this thread), You did also do something about the cat and o2's right?
