Default 2000 dodge ram 1500 trans problem

Hello everyone, I need some help. I have a 2000 dodge ram 1500 4x4 with 205,000 miles on it and without notice while driving to work as pulling into the parking lot my transmission started to slip and then went nowhere.

it finally went into gear and I parked it. Got it towed home and after it came off the flatbed it acted like nothing was wrong. It sat for a couple days and I tried it again and it wouldn't go and reverse was making a winding sound. I was advised to change the filter which I did.

It drove perfect for about 4 days and the same thing stared slipping and had the same winding noise while in reverse.

My question would would be should I have the trans flushed with the high mileage or any other sugesstions.

any help would be great thanks in advance

I would not have it flushed.

What's the fluid level? Have truck at normal operating temp, and transmission in N to check properly.

Drop the pan, see what's on the magnet, check the governor solenoid (clean or replace if needed), maybe a band adjustment and see what happens....

I just changed the filter and cleanrd the solenoids, Not much on the magnet except some heavy gunk with a metalic look but poured right out of the pan. Then it drove fine for 4 days and them started acting up again. like before I changed it My plan is to drop pan again to check. Thanks for the help!!!!!
