Default Remanufactured Computer Modules?

I may have to replace the Powertrain Control Module in my 2000 Dodge Ram soon since I'm having intermittent problems with the alternator overcharging and the voltage regulator is in the PCM. I've seen several ads online for remanufactured PCM's and the price is around 1/3 the price of a new one and they come already programmed with the VIN and mileage of your vehicle. Something I seriously doubt that a dealer would do for free. They all also come with a warranty varying from a year to a lifetime.

Over the years I've used a lot of rebuilt parts on my vehicles and they usually work just as well as new parts, but I've never used a rebuilt computer module. If anyone here has any experiences with them, I'd like to hear about it. Good, bad or Ugly.

Thanks!

Get one from a local store. That way, if you have issues, the store is right there. Stay away from anything that has anything to do with Auto Computer Exchange. They have an absolutely horrid reputation.

Appreciate it, but I don't need directions, I found the info on their web page. http://www.autoecu.com/index.php

They're about 45 minutes away. I'll give them a call and take my PCM down if I decide to go the rebuilt route and if I actually need a new PCM. I put a new battery in a couple of days ago and I haven't had any problems with overcharging since then. Just have to wait and see, I guess.

While this may be true, I've had the chance to personally see their entire operation (store front and warehouse/facility). I have nothing but good things to say about them
