Oh, and I'm running the 87 tune, 93 gas, and 195* stat. I do this because I work the truck hard and would get pre-detonation unless I ran the recommended 180* stat. But I wanted better heat in the winter so I went back to the stock 195*.

When I had the 180* I was running the 91 tune with 93 gas. No problems. I just wanted better heat.
Could I run the 87 tune with 3923 spark plugs with the 195 stat?

Every truck is different. Have to try and see if it works for you.

I tried 3923's in my 98 and saw absolutely no benefit. I was also using a flashpaq at the time, and loved it. So yea, you should have.

I figure I have the Death Flash. Have repaired the plenum problem, finally. I did not know that was a problem until recent complications in drivability. I have 1999 Dodge Ram 1500 4x4 5.9 engine. Always seems a bit doggy. What is the recommended (currently) tuning item? I have read about the Hemifever, SCT, and Flashpaq. What should I look for with today's developments?

Hemifever is still on top of things for 2nd gens. Flyin' Ryan I *think* still supports them.

Just last year Hemifever came out with his updated standard tunes for the 2nd gens, if you have one of his tunes already he will send you the updated ones for free. It is definitely worth it, not that his first tunes were bad but the torque management was nicer for pulling in the updates.
