Default Air intake

Whats the best air intake for the 1998 dodge ram 1500 5.9? I was looking at the sealed cold air intake by volant.

The Volants are good, so are S&B.
But the stock air intake is just fine if you drop in a replacement Spectre filter.
It will be more then enough air until you get some more engine mods under your belt.

Right now I'm running a specter cold air intake with an econaid throttle body spacer. I just don't want to go that next step and do the tuner out of fear of ****ing up my ECM module lol. But I just wanted to see if these volant air intake actually give you 15-35 hp and 20-60 lbs of torque?

First, unless it helps with some sort of clearance issue, get rid of the TB spacer. They do not help at all in these trucks, as they are port injected, not TB injected.

And for future reference to the original poster:

I doubt you'll see those kinds of gains from the intake.

The tuner, yes. And unless your PCM is going out to begin with, and you futz around with it alot, it won't go out by dropping a tune on it.
