The truck has 89,000 on it and the rough idle starts at around a minute or so after i start it, and if i don't give it gas you can hear the IAC start to whistle

 

Start with the O2 sensor then. Be sure to disconnect the battery while you change it. Drown it with chemicals for a couple days before you actually want to remove it. Will make getting it out easier.

 

Ok thanks, tomorrow i plan to take apart the TB and clean it and all the sensors and if the problem continues ill go out to buy a new o2.

 

I looked down the intake today while I had the TB off and all I can see was what looks like a tiny bit of oil splattered on the sides, besides that nothing was pooling. The bottom of the intake was completely clean, sign of my plenum going soon?

 

Did you look in there with a small mirror and flashlight, so you could see in the corners? The pcv also sucks oil in, but , 99% of the time the plenum gasket is also shot.

 

So today i cleaned the whole TB and all the sensors and the truck still does the same thing. I'm led to believe its the upstream o2 sensor. And zman yes i took a mirror and looked around the best i could i couldn't see any pools of oil. I just saw splattered on oil on the sides from what you said the PCV sucks in.

 

Well even if it is just oil from the pcv, the cat and the o2's are also going to be in bad shape.

JMO, but it looks to me like it's plenum,cat and o2 time. And also get pcv valve from your local dealer when/if you decide to do the work.
