hey guys new to the forum and need some help. i got a 97 1500 sport 5.9 46re 146k on it when i bought it she wouldnt go into 4th gear and tc lockup so i replaced the govenor pressure soloniod and fixed that issue. but now when it shifts into 4th gear and tc lockup the rpms flutter and as far as i can tell its slipping in 4th. if i turn o.d off and it goes into tc lockup in 3rd it doesnt flutter at all. i had one friend tell me that the band could just need to be tightened up and another say i need a rebuild because the 46res do a 150k grenade. any type of input would be of great help.

 

OK. Your post is a little hard to follow. Is the problem with TC lockup or OD?

Do you have service manual form the FAQ/DIY section? If not, go download it and read over trans section. Good troubleshooting guide there.

Trans shifts from 1st to 2nd, to 3rd, then TC, then OD.

What did fluid look like when you changed solenoids? Was is burned?

 

Governor pressure sensor shouldn't really have fixed the o/d issue..... I would guess weak solenoids, (O/D, and TCC) or, failing TPS.
