truck will start but quickly dies without giving gas
I have a 2000 dodge ram 1500 5.9, and yesterday it would start but quickly stall if I didn't keep my rpms up with gas pedal, so the retired mechanic across the street took the air filter and housing off of the truck to see what the issue is and he says clean the throttle body out and get new filter so he adjusted the idle higher so I could get back home and to get truck to shop this Wednesday. but now the next day the truck has NO BUS error code and all dash lights and no gauges working???? what do you guys think the problem could be? do you think he didn't plug everything back in and that's why? also what do you guys think the original problem was? I sincerely give thanks to anyone that helps
no more "NO BUS" or dash lights they are gone and gauges are working as they should, I checked fuse panel and popped hood and that guy put part of intake that says "dodge magnum" on backwards, put It back right way and no lights, also blew dust out of fuse panel
I would remove tb and clean IAC and port just to be sure.
If plugs and rotor have been there a long time, it may be due. Check plug wires also. Never hurts to be sure. Do NOT turn distributor - it changes fuel synch and doe NOT adjust timing on these.
Yea, easy stuff. Hope you get it figured out. And please, in the future use a better thread title in the (tech section) other than , "i need help! seriously". Reason being, anyone that does a search with the same problem or related, isn't going to search for " i need help! seriously" . Thanks bud,
