1500 Idle Problem.
For the past few days, my truck has been running pretty poor. Today, I went to put some gas in, it drove just fine. At the time the motor was at operating temp (180-190) It began sputtering, back firing, and surging.
I was able to limp it back home, after it died every time no throttle was applied.
I went out and bought a new crank position sensor, however, it only fixed the dying issue. I had a car that had a bad crank sensor with the same issue, and it fixed everything. But the truck is still idling and behaving like ****.
CEL is present, but I have no way to read it. I know it would save alot of time to get it checked.
Below is a video of what its doing.
It almost seems like a vacuum issue at this point.
I just dont see how it can run beautiful one minute, then start killing itself.
Any help would be appreciated.

How many miles on it?
Fixed the plenum yet? (see stickied thread at top of forum)
Might try cleaning the throttle body, (DIY in FAQ section) and test the throttle position sensor.
How old are the O2 sensors? How's your cat??

Thanks for the quick responses.
Its got 178,300 miles. 5.9l Auto, 4x4.
All sensors were replaced before winter hit.
Cat is free & Clear.
Plenum is still Factory, but could that cause it to seem like its running on 6 cylinders at times, then be perfectly ok again?
I wont drive the truck anymore acting how it is, and am on 0 cash till payday. but if I cant fix my truck, not too sure on how many more paydays I got left.

Is the cat hollow? (truck sounds pretty healthy....
)
Need to check your plenum. That introduces a fairly serious vacuum leak, and could possibly give you the symptoms you are seeing. Also likes to foul out plugs fairly quickly, and destroy O2 sensors, and cats....
