Talking transmission mods.

Have a 98 1500 sport, I am trying to find out if there are any tricks that can be done to the transmission for a firmer shift. Just little ones like you could do with 904/727's of early years? Dont want to rebuild it, just want to hear 2nd gear when under full throttle.

Install the Sonax Sure Cure Kit and a tune from Hemifevertuning.com. Also replace plastic servos with aluminum pistons and upgrade the spring (yours is likely broken - typical failure).

You will hear and feel the difference in shifting (in a good way...).

A simple shift kit from Transgo is what I use. I installed the EFOD-JR in my 44RE. I would also upgrade to the Borg Warner governer pressure solenoid and transducer while you're doing it.

I don;t have any experience with the Sonnax kit.

TFOD-JR is pretty basic (I fat-fingered the above), but you can tailor the shifts with it.
The HD2 kit is very comprehensive and allows much more range in tuning.

If you just want better shifts, do the JR kit. It's only like $30 too.

Don't know how I forgot about solenoid upgrade! Good catch.

I don't have any experience with Trans Go, but I would like to install one in a VB and slap it into my tranny to test one out. I have an extra VB, but am afraid to stop working on 54 to tinker on Ram - I get distracted far to easily!
