Default Transmission

I have a 1998 Ram 1500 2WD 5.2L V8 magnum automatic. I am having two major problems with my transmission.

The largest and most recent problem is that, when I start the truck I can't put it in drive and take off, I have to put it in first then go, then move up to second, and then I can put it in drive and it all works fine until I get to a stop and I have to repeat the process all over again. I can't seem to keep it in drive and it work like I was working yesterday.

My second and longest problem is. After a while of not driving (long enough to have a cold engine) I will being driving and get up to about 20 MPH and all of a sudden the truck with start hitching and I have to let off the gas and then give it has again and it fines then it does the same thing at 30 MPH and after that its fine. Please can anybody help me?

1. You might just need to change the throttle postition sensor and/or the shift sensor
2. my ford actually did all of these and i changed the torque converter sensor and those 2 sensors i mentioned and i shifted like it was a fresh trans.....

I changed the sensors and righted one kickdown but I couldn't figure out how to tighten the other so it still has a slight problem. Any idea?

What do you mean by this?

Is your fluid full and clean? Just to be sure you know, the fluid is checked with engine running and in neutral - not in park like most others.

See if fluid smells burned. It seems like direct clutch is not engaging when it should. Is TV cable adjusted correctly?

The kick down band on the underside of the tranny there are two of them and shouldn't have much play in them I tightened one of them but could tighten the other. The fluid is clean I but it in fresh after fixing everything. The fluid doesn't smell burned but I can just smell the fluid while I'm driving but it just smells like transmission fluid it doesn't smell burnt at all.
