Default Transmission mileage

Well I've heard people say that dodge 46re transmissions aren't very reliable and have to be rebuilt often, I've got almost 139,xxx on mine with no issues, so I wanna see what you guys think about your tranny. Be sure to include mileage and if you've had to rebuild it.

182K on the original. I think..... all depends on how you maintain it, and what you do with your truck. If you tow/haul a lot, don't expect it to live long. When rebuild time rolls around, you can do some upgrades to make it basically bulletproof though.... or, slam in a mega viper, and be done with it.

Deleting the check valve if you haven't already will extend its life. I got 136K on my original trans, but its not an auto.

170,000 miles on mine and I'm almost positive it's the original trans. A friend of mine had 330,000 miles on her 94 Ram with the original trans.

Want your tranny to last a while? Regular maintenance and check valve removal as stated. Install a bigger aftermarket cooler . And Install a tranny temp gauge. Being able to monitor the temp is a major plus.

159xxx on whatever rebuild I'm on.

Towing cattle trailers with 33's and 3.55 gears was never easy on the stocker trans.

But I've got a nice gooseneck hitch out of it.

Rebuilt at 170,000 miles and abused it many times. Got 50,000 on the rebuild and working great. Also been nicer since rebuild.
