Talking 318 build thoughts?

I recently bought a replacement 318 for my half ton after loosing the clutch , oil pump and a crank bearing in the original. I'm looking to rebuild the replacment. But I want to do it right. Rebuild kit, intake, headers, head work?, rockers, cam, ya know... was online last night but don't really know the best combination for these motors. I'm keeping it fuel injected and don't wanna lose any bottom end. I'm willing to spend some cash but don't wanna stroke a 318 so I'm looking for the best combo for a stock block. ANY SUGGESTIONS?

Get some Odessa or ClearWater heads, I think they're both the same people actually.

Don't put the stock heads back on. They suck

just dont use a cam or carb that is to big. for a daily driver no bigger that a 500 CFM carb, even a good chrysler factory 2 bbl would be ok. a cam no bigger than .430-.450 lift. and no more than 268 degrees duration. any more and the MPG goes south. just my idea.

He is keeping the FI, so, carb doesn't matter.

And that's REALLY conservative on the cam.. I think the is less lift than stock. (but, I could be wrong. Yeah, I know, shocking.... )

@OP: What is your main goal here? More power? Torque? Fuel economy? (pick two...... can't have all three.)

I will second the notion on replacing the heads. Don't bother wasting money on the stockers. It's pointless. Clearwater/Odessa have better castings, and can be custom ordered, if you so desire. (optional valve sizes, springs, CNC porting, etc.)

Conservative is good, but do you really want a smaller cam than the already small stock cam?

Stock magnum 360 cam has .415 lift, 318 cam has .430.

I'm looking for good power as well as decent fuel mileage. I am definitely going to look into some clearwaters.

So is a .450 lift something to look into? And what are some suggestions on good headers?
