Default Cloyes double roller timing set 3028X question

To all
If someone could respond who has installed this set, I would like to know if you have had any issues with it. The reason is I purchased it from Rock Auto and I had a question on it, so I called the Cloyes tech line and during the conversation he asked what year the engine was so I told him it was for a 1998 5.9. He indicated this chain is listed for the Chrysler engines up to 1991, and that it is balanced to compensate for the cam shaft and mechanical fuel pump. So I asked why does Rock Auto list it for 1998? he did know. If any one has installed this I would like to know if you have had any issues
Thank you

I bought a Cloyes Double Roller from Rockauto a while back, don't know if it was that model or not, but I didn't have any issues.

I wouldn't run it if it was my engine. Return it and have them give you one that is made to fit your engine and year.

i checked the Cloyes application site, and as they said, they only list that timing set for the the 318/5.2 360/5.9 through 1991.

both rockauto and o'reillys list it for my 2001.
autozone did not.

You have to remember that these part stores now days just go by what they have in their computer. If the manufacture says it is only good for up to a 91 then I would trust their word way before I would take the word of a parts store.

Take the word of the people who made it and return the part and tell them you want one that the manufacture says is ok for a Magnum engine. All it takes is the person doing the information input hitting the wrong key and it now fits up to a 2001 instead of a 1991.

I know there are more than 2 people on DF that have the 3028x, installed. I'm hoping to hear from them. If it fits and works, I don't see a problem.

zman,
I agree with you that if others are running it without issue then go for it. At the same time since the manufacture says it isn't until I knew for sure I wouldn't install it.

I forgot to mention that the 3072 cloyes(single roller) is listed for all years. Same set, LA or Magnum. Makes no sense to me.

Thanks to everyone that replied I appreciate it. I am inclined to go with the 3072 the one that is listed for my year from the manufacture. Although as Zman stated the 3072 fits the LA engines the whole thing makes no sense!
