Exclamation pcm problem. no spark no communication fuel pump won't turn off

so my buddies 98 dodge ram 5.9 wouldn't start the other day. so i took the pcm out of my 97 dodge ram 5.9 (386ac) was in a 318 but was flash tuned for the 360 i put in through hemi fever sct. his truck wouldn't do anything fuel pump wouln't even kick on.. after we plugged mine in the fuel pump just stayed on when the key was in run and still wouldn't start. put back in my truck and now i have the same problem.. key on run with fuel pump fuse in no check engine light. and fuel pump stays on. if i remove the fuse fuel pump stops but the check engine light comes on. scan tool says no communication as well as the sct tuner. any ideas? i know during the programming of the pcm the fuel pump stays on.. so i don't know if maybe my software just got wiped out or if the hardware inside failed. if so would hemifever be able to reprogram it? and does anyone know a suitable pcm replacment.. its a 5 speed 4x4 ram no power anything

A fair bit changed between 97 and 98. You may have just smoked your PCM..... Best bet is to find a donor from the same year, stuff it in there, and see what happens.

So far as I know, the only difference is in the programming. No difference I was able to find in wiring and connector pin-outs.

If you get one for an auto, yes, it will throw codes, unless you reprogram it. Otherwise, it is going to expect some inputs, and outputs, that aren't there, and that will annoy it.
