Yeah. If it was the other way around I'd be replacing it stat. But you're going to need to watch it. It could be starting to go and you not even know it. I know mine was, exhaust guy beating on the pipe was the last straw for it.

Yea I'll watch it. 220f in the front seems kinda low for exhaust gases tho doesn't it ? The manifold on the engine is like 500f.. obviously itll cool down as it goes down the pipe into the Y pipe (Jeep has a single exhaust) but 220f and 550 out the rear.

Also the muffler is original too, you know how they have a weep hole for water to drain out.. Is it normal for exhaust to get pushed out of it too ? Its making a phhhhphh exhaust leak type of noise and its easily heard by just standing on the passenger side door where the muffler is. If I plug it up the noise goes away so its deff coming from that weep hole

Um, it shouldn't have a weep hole. It's likely rusted. I know mine was starting to go as it had carbon dripped out both ends where the muffler was welded.

All or most mufflers have weep holes for water. Its deff a weep hole not a rust hole. This isn't my picture but its the same spot where my hole is.. That's a weep hole

Ok I deicded to check the thing again because 220 seemed way too cool..

Well durr I had it on C and not F.... So I had someone rev the engine to 1500-2000 rpm and I checked it again..

Whelp the front was reading 470F, the rear was reading 410f.. So I guess the cat is clogged.. Looks like I have to save up for a new one.. humph...

Yea that's what I was looking at just now nice and cheap cat by the looks of it.. How much should a shop charge me to install that do you think ? It shouldn't take more then an hour of work right ?

So your saying its "getting" clogged.. it isn't "fully" clogged ?

The shop I took my truck to charge me $60 to replace the cat and O2. Not a bad deal, me thinks. Took him about, MAYBE 20 minutes. Then again, my exhaust guy is an old hand who has been doing it forever.

Getting clogged as in you can drive it for a couple more months. Granted, I don't put much mileage on my truck, so by comparison your waiting period would be shorter.
Just keep an eye on it.

Where do you live? I seem to remember seeing something about Va, where in Va?

I'm in Southwest Va and they don't know what the word emission means... I have no cat...
