Default 99 ram 1500 transmission problems

Transmission it starting to slip between 1st and 2nd once im past 40 mph its fine and when i try to pass anyone it seems to hit neutral any ideas? Thanks.

the feeling of "hitting neutral" is the transmission slipping out of gear...the rpms will go up but the truck wont gain any speed. check your fluid level (engine on at running temp, on level ground, gear shift in neutral) and go from there. however, if i were you, I'd start looking for a rebuild shop

Change fluid and filter, adjust your bands.
