Brake light issues
I think I can still post here cause I still have a 2nd gen. But with the truck I just got, the brake light wont go off even if the E brake is not engaged. The ABS light is also on as well. I have searched and cant come up with anything. Any ideas?
This happened to me out of the blue one day right after I had changed my front wheel hub bearings and u joints. I have no idea why or how it could have been connected to this, because there's no sensors to plug or unplug but after i had finished the job i started it up and the brake and abs lights were both on. After saying some choice words to the truck, I got out and pulled the negative terminal off the battery and turned the headlight switch on to reset the computer...then I started it back up and the lights were gone...no idea what that was all about but it worked for me.
Yeah I just got it. There hasnt been that I know of. The breaks work great. I did just change out ujoints though. Dont know how that would tie into anything at all, but who knows. Its worth a shot
Depends on if you have rear anti-lock, or four-wheel anti-lock. If just rear, 90% of the time, changing the sensor on the rear diff solves the issue. If you have 4 wheel, then you need to get a scanner that can read ABS codes, and see what the system thinks is going on.

yeah thats all I could come up with too...but it looks like you and I both had serviced the front U-joints right before the lights came on...interesting
I had the same problem with my lights! I tryed to reset the computer and it didn't work. Autozone told me there's a sensor box on the brake pedal that went bad. I haven't been able to work on it yet because I been so busy but its an idea. I know I am posting so late on this topic. Been away.
