Default Brake light issues

I think I can still post here cause I still have a 2nd gen. But with the truck I just got, the brake light wont go off even if the E brake is not engaged. The ABS light is also on as well. I have searched and cant come up with anything. Any ideas?

This happened to me out of the blue one day right after I had changed my front wheel hub bearings and u joints. I have no idea why or how it could have been connected to this, because there's no sensors to plug or unplug but after i had finished the job i started it up and the brake and abs lights were both on. After saying some choice words to the truck, I got out and pulled the negative terminal off the battery and turned the headlight switch on to reset the computer...then I started it back up and the lights were gone...no idea what that was all about but it worked for me.

yea probably...just try resetting the computer and see if the lights stay off. Did you just buy the truck? Had there been any work done to the front end right before the lights came on?

The only thing I can find from digging online is maybe the abs sensor on the rear end. Never had to mess with one though

Depends on if you have rear anti-lock, or four-wheel anti-lock. If just rear, 90% of the time, changing the sensor on the rear diff solves the issue. If you have 4 wheel, then you need to get a scanner that can read ABS codes, and see what the system thinks is going on.

I had the same problem with my lights! I tryed to reset the computer and it didn't work. Autozone told me there's a sensor box on the brake pedal that went bad. I haven't been able to work on it yet because I been so busy but its an idea. I know I am posting so late on this topic. Been away.
