dying...stalling...backfire...wont hold charge
ok everyone i hope someone can help because im pulling my hair out over this one. basically i have been chasing and issue that when i come to stop signs stop lights anything like that the truck backfires sputters does its thing then will start running fine. on the highway runs smooth and every once in a while it want to start like bucking rpms stay fine it just bucks for a minute ten goes. now the crazy part i had it runnin really good then it started being weak when i would start it so i went to get a new battery. thats when sh$% went crazy. i was super busy that day and had to make a call so i had someone at a place here in missouri put the battery in while i made a call, well i was watching and i saw a spark windshield wipers started moving and he got out of the truck and went to the hood and mesed with the battery my guess is he somehow switched negative and positive. So left there battery truck started fine made it about 15-20 minutes and truck started dying and went completely dead. so i assumed alternator. recharged battery put alternator in jumped it ran for about 10 minutes then i pulled over it idled for a few minutes then idle got real rough and it died. checked grounds put new terminals on battery wired jumped it same thing wont hold charge. when it ishooked up to another truck it reads 14 and idles perfect as soon as we disconect the jumper cables it goes to about 12 and steadily drops. since new alternator and battery it has never ben above 11-12 without being connected to another truck. i have done so much and the guy before me did so much work i dont know where to start. il try and break down what i have done and he has done and maybe we can figure out. amongst other stuff i wonder if with all the aftermarket stuff the guy did before me do i need a new computer module or chip?
so its a 95 1500 5.2 the guy before me ran headers and straight pipes which i just put a 2 inlet 1 outlet muffler and exhaust on, he put that double barrel holley intake on it, k&n air filter, msd ignition
since ive had it engine wise i have done plugs wires rotor cap ignition coil tps sensor cleaned throtle body battery alternator
what am i missing because i am literaly puling my hair out with ful battery nd hooked up to another truck it runs and idles quiet and smooth when i try and drive it it get louder boggier then dies, and sometimes when i let it idle it starts to try and die you can really hear the air beaing sucked in the air filter and if i put it in neutral it idles fine...
thank you for all your help if any more info needed let me know! thank you!!

i would put that battery on a charger till it was fully charged, sounds like it isn't. Low voltage from the batt. will cause all kinds of weird crap to happen. If that doesn't fix it, take the truck back to where you had the battery installed and have them fix whatever they screwed up during the installation.
This. Sounds like they smoked the regulator.
Is the drive belt good and tight, alternator pulley not binding?
Couldn't hurt to do a voltage drop test on the insulated and ground side of the charge system.
Insulated side: Voltmeter leads on alternator output and battery positive. Run the truck at 75% throttle w/ the headlights on, should be a max of .2 volts showing.
Ground side: voltmeter leads go from battery negative to alternator case. Run at 75% throttle and headlights on. Max of .1 volt.
If that checks out, I'd bet on the pcm regulator
