1997 Dodge Ram; changed battery now alarm
#11
Hey guys,
I've fixed it! I finally found a little black button under the dash near the hood release. I don't know how I missed it because I was upside down and every way looking for anything to try. I completely took the dash panel thing off to look behind it and then I saw the button, but that wasn't a necessary step if you know where to look which I'm sure completely depends on your individual truck and alarm system. So, I'm pasting a photo here just in case it would ever help someone else have an idea of what the button might look like (if their truck even has one). I connected the battery (sounding the alarm) and then pushed the button but that didn't work for me. I put the key in the ignition and turned it to "on" while holding the button. It took about 5 seconds or so for it (the alarm) to stop. Truck starts fine now and no alarm. HOORAY! I've been without transportation for 3 weeks because of this. Thanks for all the time put into helping a stranger. Arrow points to button:

Thanks this helped out so much! Especially since there are a couple hundred looking switches.

If you have the viper alarm system on your truck or car to reset there are a few steps...
1. Connect battery terminals
2. turn the key the the AUX position (the position just before the start turn)
3. With the battery connected and the key in AUX. tap the button once then hold (tap, release and press and hold. You will hold the button for 3-5 sec and the alarm will turn off.
Septs need to be done in order and 2 and 3 need to be completed quickly.
Good luck to all!

apologies since this is a bit late but ive noticed mine has a similar alarm and i have to start by reconnecting the negative, open the door, turn key to aux, then press small black button. yes this is the same but on mine i have to start out with the door CLOSED. idk if this'll help anyone, but ive tried turning it off while leaving the door open and itdoesnt work on mine.

I found the Lil box and unplugged them yep it killed my alarm awesome but the truck still won't start is this because I've unplugged that black box? The truck will turn over but won't fire Idk now if I've just killed the alarm sound or if I have a 2nd problem. Guess my question is should the truck start if I unplug that black box under the dash
