He had transmission rebuilt and he installed. Then he had to have them rework it again. They said the temperature was too high. Not sure who is doing the work but, I am not sure the shop really knows all the specifics on the transmission. They may be experienced in transmissions but, not sure they have a real shop set up? They do not pull or install them, they only work on them.

Yes sir. I told him the trick to checking the codes and I had the book open to the page to trouble shoot the code. I found it easier to buy the paper manual than go through all of the codes listed (I may have been on the wrong thread). My manual just has 1 page I have to find and then follow down to the right code.

I have had many Jeeps, very familiar with the codes.lol My Dodge van even had the code computer in the check engine light. Thank you.

Oh, since sticky's is brought up, the sticky for the 2nd Gen Vehicles list: "If you have a 1994-2001 Ram 1500, or a 1994-2002 Ram 2500 with a gas engine, you are in the correct section". I have a 1996' 3500. I was told 2nd Gen and it seems right but, I am not listed on there. Who do I tell? The thread is closed.

Codes 32 and 37 seem to very common on the 94's and 95's. Seems like those that get them, get both and not one at a time, like me. Only some of the trucks have a trans. temp sensor, part of the towing package I think. I don't have a trans. temp sensor, but still get the code. I don't think there's a problem at all, just a quirk in the PCM software.

Well he defiantly has an issue. I trust what you are saying but, I would research it and try to fix it. Rather than just saying do not worry about it. I have almost found pride in my troubleshooting ability when I fix the obvious stuff first. Most of the time, all the other stuff gets fixed in the process.

Most recently, I had 3 error codes when I purchased my truck. #12-Battery disconnected in the last 50 starts. #46-Overcharging the battery and #17-Temp sensor reads vehicle runs below operating temp during vehicle operation. At first I thought it was the ECM (Regulator is inside and temp sensor is feeding the ECM).

I put out a search for an ECM and there was only 1 used in the entire country. Then I went to the dealer and was able to pick up a Temp sensor that fed the ECM (gauge on dash worked fine). When I replaced the Temp sensor, the other problem went away. No ECM required.

That is what I am talking about. I could not have asked for a better outcome. Fix the obvious stuff first. Evidently the sensor was broke so bad (end snapped off on removal) that the two wires inside had grounded out and it was sending a faulty reading. Causing the regulator to send more power through the wires (grounding it out). It was corroded and brittle.

Some people claim skill, I claim pure dumb luck. I started with the whole problem but, broke it down into cost effective fixes. What was readily available? What was the price of the fix and what could I do to imminently correct any situation? The sensor was local and the ECM was on the other side of the country. Sensor was $40 verses $100 for the 1 and only ECM for my white elephant (I almost purchased the ECM because it was cheap and the only one).

Originally, $650 had been my best price for an ECM but, there was none available. I could have mine rebuilt for about $800 and then I found a place for about 1/2 that price. Because I have a V10, stick shift and CA emissions, my quest was much harder.

Okay for the misfiring #5 cylinder, try this link. Check your wires and routing:

Okay, talked to him again in a PM. This is some of what he shared:

--catballou5477's neighbor works for Ammco Transmission he is allow to rebuild Transmission as long as long as does not do it on the clock or do it when they are busy off the clock. The first time he rebuilt it, it lasted 6 months. The 2nd time seems to be working good and catballou5477 has not had one problem so far. It has a warranty for 1 year. catballou5477 uses Amsoils Full systemic Transmission Fluid. catballou5477 replaced the regular Front & read differential fluid with Lucas full synthetic 85 # gear oil. In the the Transfer case catballou5477 used amsoil Oil full synthetic Transmission (fluid). He checked it the first time it read that it got hot the 2nd time going through both coolers its reading the same.--

Note: I just transferred information from an email message to this thread (above).
