Default 46RE Transmission

I have a 2000 dodge 1500 4x4 5.9l and I just bought a governor pressure sensor and solenoid kit online to fix my shifting problems. I also am adjusting the rear bands while pan is dropped. My question is, since I replaced the sensor/solenoid and adjusted the bands, the truck does shift good now however i hear a faint rubbing noise coming from trans.. why is that? The noise doesn't sound too bad and doesn't seem to affect shifting. I only hear it when I am sitting still holding brake and shift into any gear..

what was the problem you were having that caused you to change the solenoid parts?

Did you adjust the bands per the manual? Tighten to 72 INCH pounds, then back them off X number of turns?

The initial problem I had: Truck didn't want to shift from 1st to 2nd or to 3rd. Overdrive not working either. For awhile I was able to shift by using the shifter manually, but eventually that stopped working as well. I read a few weeks ago that dodges are notorious for transmission (sensor) issues, that's when I discovered the governor and solenoid kits online and decided to try it. And like I said before it seems to have cured my shifting issue for the moment, but that sound is odd...

Funny you asked because I went to advance to get a torque wrench and when I got home I realized it was a ft lbs wrench.. I converted in. lbs to ft. lbs and came up with 6ft lbs so I went with that. Maybe that's where I screwed up??

Depending on the torque wrench, it may not be very accurate that low in it's range. It's possible your problem could stem from that....... can't say for sure though.

You converted correctly, but as HeyYou said...it's dependent on the wrench's range. Does it actually start that low? Just worth a shot asking about it.
