Default Exhaust manifold bolts

So, I'm replacing the exhaust manifold gasket on the passenger side. On one of the center connections, the bolt unscrewed off of the stud that goes into the block. On the connection right next to it, the entire stud unscrewed from the block.

With the stud still in place, I can't pull the gasket on or off, and am unable to pull the manifold out far enough to clear the stud.

Do I need to remove this stud, or do I need to loosen an exhaust connection further down, to allow me to pull it over?

Thanks,

Did you drop the y-pipe off the manifold?

Removing the stud seems like a good plan.

Pretty common for the studs to come all the way out of the head upon removal. If you have all of the nuts/bolts loose from the manifold and the pipe unbolted (and pulled away) from the bottom of the manifold (loosen the lower manifold bolts on both sides where the Y-pipe connects to make the job easy), there should be plenty of room to remove the manifold, even with the stud still in the head in the center.

So you have headers?

I didn't think stock manifolds had gaskets

Thanks all. I just ended up using vice grips to loosen the stud. worked fine, and got the gasket replaced.
