Thanks, yea it's a paper filter. After reading some independent flow tests, I may or may not keep the paper one. Depends on how long I keep the truck (reusable if long). I had no idea I was missing a cowl piece, thanks. Oh, and trust me that TB is clean now. No way I would put it back in there like that! So do you agree it's my IAC since there was no change when unplugged?

Make sure the throttle linkage is plenty far away from the bottom of the housing and does not bind, check when some torque is put on the motor to make sure the housing is not hitting the firewall.

The Spectres are $20. I've got one and it pepped my engine up a bit.

The IAC may be stuck OPEN as when you unplug it it should make the engine pretty much die. But if it's stuck open it will keep the idle air passage open, idling high.

Don't forget the two foam gaskets.

I'm pretty sure it is. I've had it floored with it on and no binding and scraping that I can hear or feel. IMO, it's a pretty good replacement if you can find one. Keeps it a bit 'factory'.

Well, $20 ain't bad at all. I was thinking the same thing about the IAC. It was gunked up bad when I cleaned it, and felt pretty stiff. Will replace it and hope that works.

All gaskets acquired . It's pretty well sealed for what it is. I siliconed the hose around the end piece. There's a good bit of suction on it while idling, and the air is so much cooler there than above the intake.

Cool beans man. I can't feel much suction on mine. Granted, mine is a jury-rigged factory intake. lol

I was talking about the "L" shaped foam gaskets that go next to the rubber gasket that runs along the front of the cowl.

You have a vacuum leak somewhere, or, you didn't disconnect the battery while working on it. IAC needs to be relearned I think. Disconnect the battery for about five minutes, then try again.

Vacuum leak is not out of the question, but the battery was disconnected over night while I was cleaning everything. I didn't hook it back up until everything was reconnected and it was ready to fire up. How do you explain me pulling the connector off the IAC, and it does nothing while idling? I just drove around for ten minutes with it unplugged, and it behaved no differently than it has been. Obviously, the IAC is/was not doing it's job.
