Default P0601 Error

Just got this today. I know the PCM is probably shot. Any ideas where I can get one for cheap and is it hard to install?

I have a 2000 Dodge Ram 5.9L 4x4.

Yes. I did do a search. All posts are a few years old.

Thanks.

Is it a plug in play deal or do I have to reprogram for it to work?

Get one from a truck with as close to the same options and year as yours. You'll probably have to get it flashed at the dealer anyway so the mileage and vin match. But at least it will be a lot cheaper at first to make sure that it is the problem.

ok. Do I have to have the dealership flash it? Also, when you say options, your talking about auto or manual trans, 4x4 or 2x4, engine right?

Yes to all of it.

You'll need it flashed for VIN, and you're going to need to find a truck with the same engine, trans, and drive as yours since you need to drive it to the dealer.

Makes sense. How long can I drive with it before I get it flashed? I am ***-uming that it will be a few hundred to flash it.

Should be an hour labor max to reflash at the dealer. Check with local shops, and see if one of them can do it for less..... Should be something most capable shops can do.
