Default ABS, Check engine and Brake Lights on Help

2001 dodge ram 1500 2wd 5.9l v8

I have posted this before but my problem is not going away. My abs light, check engine light and brake light are on. I took the plugs for the computer off and cleaned them. plugged back in and also restarted the dash screen by holding the trip button in. checked all the abs fuses and every fuse too. all were working. I recently changed the abs sensor on the rear differential too. problem still exist. I don't know what else to do. I had to brake hard on the highway and my brakes locked up. the front passenger side tire burnt a chunk of tread off so now the tire is not complete round.

please help me!!!!!

2 or 4 wheel ABS? Does your speedo work? Trans shift right?

it shifts from drive, neutral and park a little rough but speedo works. just the brake light, abs light and check engine light are on. the fluids are all topped off. front is disc brakes and rear are drum brakes. they all seem good. but with the either 2 or 4 wheel abs I don't know.

have a look at your front hubs. If there is a wire going to them, you have 4wal, no wire, Rwal. If you have the motor/controller under the hood, that is certainly 4wal. 4 wheel antilock has a LOT more than can go wrong, and turn on the lights. I don't think that the CEL, and the various brake lights are related though.... (unless it is something silly like a trans output speed sensor....) If you have 4wal, you will have to take it someplace to have codes read. Most parts stores don't have that capability that I am aware of though. (varies by location) May have to take it in to a shop to have them read, or, if you have a friend with a decent scanner....... (and no, most the the little hand held fellers won't do it.)

Check fluid level first. The line going to the rear that runs along side the gas tank is notorious for rusting out, and breaking. Trouble is, you don't always see the fluid leak.... Doesn't take much of a leak to **** off the ABS controller. (for RWAL, its all in the PCM)

Make sure you don't have any leaks in the system. Pedal should be firm, and not sink slowly to the floor with pressure applied.

Any number of things can annoy the PCM enough to turn on the lights though.... so, go get codes read for the CEL, see what they are, and fix those first. See if that doesn't solve the ABS problem as well.

The RWAL on these trucks never was the best. On mine, so far as I am concerned, I might just as well not even have it. It is pretty much useless.

Your front locking first isn't a good sign though...... If I had to hazard a wild guess, I would say the line to the rears is starting to leak.

I checked the line going to the rear. No leaks could it be something else. I disconnect the terminals sprayed them down cleanned them and put them back. I don't know what else to do.

You simply need to go to a shop that has a scanner capable of read ABS codes, before you spend any more money or time.
