2001 Ram slow to start
IAC may be stuck. You should pull it out of the TB, connected, and have someone turn the key to on (NO ENGINE START) and see what it does.

I will defiinitey do as told because if I knew the answers I wouldn't be asking and I am always eager to learn new things. its the only way to get better and more knowledgeable.
I don't know if the 5.2 has the same type of intake as a 1999 Dakota 318.I had a problem that sounds like the one I was having except mine was also using a lot of oil with no leaks.It puzeled me for a month.I was a Nissan tech at the time.The dealer I worked at also had a dodge dealer next to it.I walked over there and asked a few techs what could cause this to happen.They told me to start the motor and remove the oil cap.The one where you put the oil in the motor.If when the cap is off you put your hand over the hole you feel it suck your hand in like a vacuum cleaner then you need a new gasket under the intake manifold.i got the gaskets cause I could have vacuumed my sop with mine if I put a vacuum cleaner hose on it.I removed the intake and on the bottom there is a long plate with around 10 or so bolts holding it in place.They were all loose and the gasket was sucked in.I replaced it and it fixed it.I didn't have any suction at the oil cap.and all the issues went away.Hey give it a check it only takes a few seconds .Hope this helps Jack
The water leak was, indeed, the thermostat housing. One of the bolts had come loose. The cutting off seems to have resolved itself. Hasn't done it all day. NOW, only problem is the fuel line that runs between the fuel rails. I had to replace it a while back and replaced it with 3/8 inch fuel injection line. Noticed the smell of gas on a drive today. Popped the hood and one end of the line had split. I took it off and cut the split off the end and put it back on. Soon as I cranked it up, the OTHER end split and started spraying. The line is less than 6 months old. Just bad line I guess. I KNOW the line I put there can handle the pressure. I was **** about getting actual fuel injection line.

Turns out the FI line they sold me was carb line.... THEY ARE NOT THE SAME, PEOPLE!!!!!! For now, I seem to be golden.

Hmmm, did the plenum fix and weirdest thing.... the gasket was perfectly intact. Looked like a new one, yet I still had a pool of oil in the intake about the size of a quarter. I still managed to regain some power and all that jive when I replaced it, yet I still have problems with it being slow to fire up. I have resigned myself to the fact that I should replace my cat. I am keeping my muffler. Its a Super 44 that I put on less than a year ago. Love the way it sounds. Giving some thought to getting a single in/dual out Flowmaster cat and running duals with a Super 44 on each side. What are you guys thoughts on that setup? Think the sound would be nice? I am not going for loud, I like the mellow growl.
When you did the plenum, did you replace the actual plate as well, or did you just replace the gasket? That's a stamped steel plate on the bottom of an aluminum intake, and it'll eventually happen again if you didn't opt for the aluminum plate, due to the differing expansion/contraction rates of both metals (just a thought).
