Default 5 speed swap / 360 swap

i have an auto 1500 with a 318.. im really considering a 5 speed and possibly 360 swap too.. which is better the NV3500 or NV4500? will either engine work with either tranny? also is a 4x4 so do i need a different transfer case too or should it all bolt up? thanks for the help!

NV4500 is heavier duty. Transfer case should bolt right to it. What year is your truck?

Should work with both engines.

Transfer case may have a different spline count? Nv4500 only? Maybe?

Upgrade transfer cases to the 2500 one because its supposed to be way better

its a 96 with a 6" suspension lift and 35's so definatly thinkin it needs some more power. thanks for the help ill try to find a NV4500 so even if i dont do the motor right away i still can later. the 4x4 doesnt work as it is (almost had me stuck earlier) so gotta see whats up with that too

^^^ 35's = 4.56 gears, that should be your first step before anything else.

4.56 will keep the engine RPM where they were with stock tires.

Clutches in your LSD are probably worn out. They are rebuildable....
